Addu people out on streets calling Jabir for immediate leave from Herathera

Addu people has started to raise their voice against Jabir's resistance to leave Herathera after MTDC has canceled their contract with J Resorts. In the past three days four to six local staffs were dismissed unfairly. Most of them are from Hulhumeedhoo, the only two island residing Herathera. Around three hundred people participated in this strike, was attended by prominent business men, youth and the old aged from Addu. According to the strike organizers, it will continue till the expiry of seven days handover period to MTDC. "If Jabir resists to leave even after seven days, then we will cross the waters to enter into Herathera", chanted the crowed.

Protesters were calling Jabir to leave Herathera immediately for various reasons. They include ongoing alcohol supply to residing Hulhumeedhoo and its free consumption with in Herathera. Local staffs have not received their bonus for the past two months while foreign staffs received their last salary for the month of October 2008. All the sinful activities like adultery that are underway in Herathera is the sheer reason for local uprising . Entire Addu is running after for Jabir for payments of their supplies. According to reliable sources Jabir owes Addu bussinesses an amount equivalent of Mrf1,000,000. Protesters were also demanding for the rights of the tourists in the hotel. In Herathera tourists are out of proper water and food. They don't get access into internet and cable TV either. They are in complete fear after entering into Herathera. For these reasons tour guides are advising their respective operators and agencies to halt sending tourists to Herathera. There are roumers that staffs who take part in the ongoing strikes gets terminated the next day.View Photos

  4. i want to call upon u guy to show up jabir who we hulhudhooans are. he might think we r not aware of our rights. wht jabir has to know is tht we r not for voilance but also we will not hesitate to do anything tht is required for our people rights. jabir, please make sure to leave herether as stipulated bu MTDC otherwise it will not be easy for in the coming days. jabir, also be noted it is always good for both parties and the rest of all to do things according to the rules and regulations administered. the things tht has ben created are due to negligance and not complying of the agreement between u and MTDC. and i want to say u dont try us hulhumeedhuans left as victims of this.

  5. Jabir, MTDC & who ever operates the herethera island resort must not forget the objective of the development of this resort!!! It was developed for many reasons to provide jobs to Maldivians & specially local or near by citizens living .It belongs to all Maldivians Foreigners must be employed only when locals are not available govt must watch this!!! herethera is not a property of jabir or yacht tours. Jabir must repsect the law. When the law is taken in the hands of one person then it may be forced for the rest of the people to take control of this if he thinks it is so-
