After the unprecedented victory to Dr. Hassan Saeed in the first round of presidential election on October 5, 2008, supporters and followers of his ideology backed Iththihaadhu as Hassan himself very firstly endorsed Wathan Edhey Gothah to support Anni, who came to second place to compete Maumoon, without any condition. 90% of the people who voted for Dr. Hassan Saeed in the first round accepted his advice to back Iththihaadhu just to say NO to the brutal dictatorship proceeding to another 5 years term. He convinced the people of Hulhumeedhoo that if any of us vote Maumoon the vote is not given to him actually, rather it becomes a vote given to his brother Mr. Yameen-the Mafia Leader. From addicts at the streets of Hulhumeedhoo to fisherman in the vast addu sea to mothers crying for a better day to their children in Addu at large decided their vote shall not go wasted and they would vote for a change-so then the engine of Iththihaadhu movement started.
On this day of Iththihaadhu rally an estimated number of 1500 people from Hulhumeedhoo participated, while as many as 14 vehicles and not less than 100 motor cycles were used. More and more people started visiting Iththihaadhu campaign offices to watch live VTV presentations on big screens located at three different locations in Hulhumeedhoo. View Photos.
